Cochonfucius once met a flying frog
Cochonfucius observed a flying frog.
"Have mercy", said the frog.
"Please don't fear", said the Master. "Never in my life did I kill a flying frog.
Some ordinary ones, perhaps, in the rice fields."
"Have mercy", said the frog.
"I no longer kill them. Some lambs, but they are bred for that purpose."
"Have mercy", said the frog.
"I try to be merciful to all creatures, but sometimes we have to protect the
innocent from the murderer".
"Have mercy", said the frog.
The Master tried to hit the creature with his walking stick, but he missed it.
"Have mercy", said the frog, flying away.
The Master said: "My dear followers, please note this. Although the frog
is no sententious animal, and can
pronounce only one sentence, I was taught by what it said. Perhaps I should become
like that."
"Please have mercy on us", said all the followers.
